Parole Board Talks About OJ Simpson's Release

Nevada's parole board is granting parole to O.J. Simpson.  David Smith of Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners yesterday explained that the 70 year old is eligible for release on October 1st.  He said the board decided to grant parole because Simpson had a minimal criminal history, good behavior in prison and he took part in programs to address the behavior that led to his imprisonment.

He noted that Simpson has "stable release plans and community and family support."  Simpson plans go to Florida once he's released.  He's served more than eight years for armed robbery connected to a 2007 attempt to get back memorabilia at a Las Vegas hotel room.
