Rapper Shares Evidence Eminem Used His Same ‘MTBMB’ Artwork & Samples

Eminem's latest album Music To Be Murdered By may have been influenced by an up-and-coming Scottish rapper's 2015 track.

Shortly after the release of Em's latest project, Darren Stewart a.k.a. Zee The Dungeonous revealed that his five-year-old single, also titled "Music To Be Murdered By," shares many similarities to the legendary rapper's MTBMB album.

"That new @Eminem got some fire on it.I got a track w @Brainsmcloud called MUSIC TO BE MURDERED BY sampling the Hitchcock vinyl before @Eminem," Zee tweeted. "Exactly 5 years previously to THE DAY.January 17th 2015.. That alone is a 1 in 365 chance.. #MusicToBeMurderedBy."

When it comes to the two projects, there are a string of coincidences, starting with its release date, that connect them. Zee's track titled Music to Be Murdered By was reportedly released on January 17, 2015. Coincidentally, Em's Music To Be Murdered By album was released exactly five years later on January 17, 2020. Zee also pointed out that both he and Eminem used the same voice samples from Alfred Hitchcock, and Jeff Alexander's 1958 album, Alfred Hitchcock Presents Music to Be Murdered By, cover art.

“When I heard the Hitchcock samples, the same title, and release date, I did start to get a little freaked out,” Zee told the Evening Standard. “He is one of my idols, and it could well be a coincidence, but you do hear stories of richer artists with louder fan bases getting away with that sort of thing.”

The rapper also noted that he previously worked with D12 member Bizarre, who has worked with Eminem for years. “I had a guest feature from Bizarre on my album, who I met after a concert in Glasgow in 2008, which I released two years before Music to be Murdered By, which was called Murder Zee Wrote,” he explained. “We have our connections to D12, and it doesn’t put it too far out of the realm of possibility that Eminem, through Bizarre, heard my track, dug for the sample I used, and took the concept."

“I’ve tweeted Eminem about it and also contacted Bizarre. I wouldn’t say I was annoyed, if it’s straight-up coincidence then I would be amazed,” he added. “He is a hero of mine, and if it’s not a coincidence I’m genuinely flattered by it all.”

Despite the many coincidences, Zee said he doesn’t believe Eminem stole his idea. “Being real, I don’t actually believe Eminem stole my track,” he said in a Facebook post. “Even with the D12 connection, it’s off [Eminem's] radar. But it’s still a series of mad coincidences right down to the release date, so geez some free promo. Nice timing, my new release Gravehearted is dropping in February.”
