Former NFL Network personality Peter Schrager is officially joining ESPN, the network announced in a press release shared on its website Tuesday (April 1).

Schrager, 42, who also hosts the iHeartMedia NFL podcast, The Season with Peter Schrager, will "provide commentary and analysis on Get UpFirst TakeThe Pat McAfee ShowNFL Live, and SportsCenter throughout the year with more regular appearances during the NFL season," as well contribute to coverage "leading up to and surrounding the NFL’s tentpole events such as Super Bowl, free agency and the NFL Draft," according to the news release.

"I’m incredibly excited for this amazing opportunity with ESPN. Beyond their fantastic year-round, wall-to-wall, coverage of the NFL, Schrager said in the press release. "ESPN is personally special to me in that I grew up watching SportsCenter three or four times every morning before school and swore by that NFL Primetime music with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson doing the highlights on Sunday nights. I can’t wait to be a part of it all and am thrilled to be joining this incredible team.”

Schrager specifically named Front Office Sports' Ryan Glasspiegel and the Athletic's Andrew Marchand during his confirmation that he was leaving NFL Network during the live broadcast of Good Morning Football on Monday (March 31) following their reports of his departure last Friday (March 28).

"The rumors are true. Today is my last day on Good Morning Football. I end with great feelings, we're going to celebrate today. I love everyone on this show. It's all good. But this will be the last episode I'll be on this program," Schrager said.

Schrager, who previously told the Athletic that he auditioned for ESPN's Dream Job reality series while in college, was already contributing to FOX Sports and Showtime's Inside the NFL, along with his iHeartMedia podcast duties, while under contract with NFL Network.
