After one Cincinnati player failed to advance in the Western and Southern Open, Porche Court would see a second make her attempt to advance past the 1st round.

Following JJ Wolf's defeat to Emil Ruuuvuori, Caty McNally would try her luck against the Belarusian-born Aliaksandra Sasnovich. McNally jumped out to an early 6-3 fist set win. The second set though see the young American struggle with Sasnovich starting to dictate the pace of the match. Sassnovich would win the second set 6-3.

The third set would see McNally fair better against the Belarusian. While Sasnovich was still control much of the pace and points, McNally was able to keep up with her. McNally would get a late break to tie the set at 5-5, and would hold serve to go up 6-5. She would not be able to break Sasnovich again thought sending the set to a tiebreak.

McNally would take control in the tiebreaker quickly going up 4-0. Sasnovich would pick up a couple of points, but the Madeira native would prove to too much, and take the tiebreaker, set, and match 6-3, 3-6, 7-6(2).

McNally will move on to play the 5 seed Ons Jabeur in the 2nd round on Wednesday.

You can catch Caty in doubles action Tuesday afternoon on Court 11, as her and fellow American Taylor Townsend take on the team of Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Ellen Perez.
