Hours before her little sister Serena was due to start her final appearance in the Cincinnati Western and Southern Open, big sister Venus played her own match.

Venus Williams took on Czech player Karolina Pliskova. After a close first set, Pliskova would take over the match and send Venus out of the Western and Southern Open.
