Former Super Bowl winning NFL head coach, Jon Gruden joins Dan Patrick on The Dan Patrick Show. He weighs in on Week 3 of the NFL and the trends he sees in the league so far this season. Dan puts him on the spot about his status with the NFL and whether he’ll be eligible to coach in the NFL ever again. Coach Gruden reminds Dan that the situation is out of his hands but his love for coaching will never die. He says he is loving his job as an analyst but he’s always going to be open to the possibility of returning to the sidelines, even if it’s for a college team.
Jon Gruden: “If someone’s looking for somebody to coach, I’ll be in the bullpen. We’ll see what happens...”
Dan Patrick: “You’d fill the void with (Nick) Saban not there, Jim Harbaugh not there; get another big personality in there. But does it matter the size of the school if you’re going to coach?”
Jon: “Nothing really matters. It’s just the opportunity, I think, to get another chance to be on a team; that’s appealing to me. But I’m on a team right now and I want to reiterate that. I know there was an article written about me wanting to coach. I’ve always wanted to coach, my whole life, and that’s never going to change, but right now this opportunity I have in front of me is very exciting.”
