Chris Broussard: LeBron Needs to Stop 'Obsessing' Over GOAT Discussions

Chris Broussard: “LeBron on his Instagram posted a story with a photo of him in his high school uniform with a Jay-Z lyric from the song ‘What More Can I Say?’ from The Black Album… The lyric is ‘I’m supposed to be number one on everybody’s list, we’ll see what happens when I no longer exist’… I’ve defended LeBron in the past, but this is like a public obsession. Publicly he’s coming off as too obsessed with this GOAT thing. You go back to him winning in 2020 and saying ‘I want my respect’, and saying ‘I’m chasing the ghost of Jordan.’ At that point at least he knew he wasn’t there. Privately if he thinks he’s the GOAT, fine, I think Jordan will tell you privately that he’s the GOAT, but publicly Jordan doesn’t say it. Kareem doesn’t say it, none of those guys ever say it but LeBron.”

Rob Parker: “NOBODY has ever said it except for LeBron. That’s not something that YOU say, OTHER people say that!"

Broussard: “It’s coming off like he’s too obsessed with it. You’re the leading scorer, top 10 in assists, you’ve got your four rings, your four MVPs, you came back from the 3-1 deficit, you’ve won a championship with three teams, let your records speak for themselves. He’s saying it too much. We’ve heard athletes like Muhammad Ali and Floyd Mayweather call themselves the ‘greatest’, but it’s an individual sport, and they were saying that from the get-go.”

Parker: “He’s obsessed and he needs to stop. Coming off being swept?? Let it go, enjoy your summer off!”

Watch Chris Broussard and Rob Parker discuss an Instagram story LeBron James recently made that once again saw LeBron anointing himself as the greatest player of all time, as Chris says LeBron’s infatuation with self-promoting GOAT discusses has reached ‘obsessive’ levels.

Check out the segment above as both Broussard and Parker call out LeBron for the awkward conceit that comes off the heels of his Lakers being swept in the Western Conference Finals.
